Frequently Asked Questions
|
This page contains frequently asked questions about our safety courseware and our Achieve software.
How does Daybreak Technology update its safety courses when OSHA and other agencies revise safety standards?
The Achieve software has a built-in update system. Course changes can be made throughout your system without reinstallation. Updates are sent to you by e-mail.
Can we modify a safety course?
Yes. All of our courses can be modified with our easy-to-use authoring tool, Achieve Instructor. You can purchase and use Achieve Instructor yourself, or we can modify a course for you. For more information about Achieve Instructor, see the Software Features and Specifications page.
How does the effectiveness of computer-based training compare with other forms of training?
There have been hundreds of studies done by corporations, industry associations and such organizations as the Department of Defense. In general, students learn 30% to 50% faster using CBT and retain information 30% to 50% longer. The reason for this is simple: Students learn at their own pace without peer pressure.
Does the purchase of your courseware and software include technical support?
Yes. For more information see the Technical Support page.
How can we tell if our computer system will run your courseware?
If you have purchased your computers within the past six years and have Windows installed, you most likely can run Achieve. In some cases, it may be necessary to purchase a set of speakers or head phones. In rare cases, it may be necessary to install a sound card. If you are unsure about your system’s capability, please give us a call. Additional information can also be found on the Computer System Requirements page.
Does your courseware meet all OSHA and state safety training requirements?
Every effort is made by our safety experts to make our courseware as complete as possible and technically accurate for all the topics covered. Most of our courseware has been reviewed by one or more state labor departments. However, OSHA requires that employers provide some site specific training. For example, employees must know where fire extinguishers are located. When this type of content is presented in our courseware, the students are told to talk to their supervisor about it. The only way to be more specific is to customize the courseware.
Can we run Achieve courses over our network or the internet?
Achieve courses can be run directly from your network server, provided that your network has reasonable bandwidth capability. Unfortunately, the same is not true for the internet. It is our belief that you cannot provide quality training over the internet at this time. The bandwidth limitations of the internet dictates that courseware be predominantly text with over compressed and low quality multimedia content.
Can we integrate test results and student data with our human resources database?
Yes! You can export data from Achieve Teacher or Achieve Instructor to a Microsoft Access database. Since all database products have an import feature, the test results can be easily integrated.
